Wow. This is the best one out of the past five books. No kidding! Remo and Chiun's dialogue is back on track, the jibes are clever, the plot is funny, and the characters are classic Destroyer material! Chiun is a little more bloodthirsty than normal, the Russians get their panties in a bind, an old enemy is back, and the action is on a par with earlier books.
The plot: an unknown phenomenon is causing focused destruction on the Earth. No installation is safe. This space born enemy is wreaking havoc with the USA and Mother Russia. Chiun thinks it is a Sun Dragon. Remo thinks it is a big magnifying glass. The Russians think is the US government. Smith has no idea. The president thinks it's something he saw on the "X Files." Whatever it is can melt anything to slag in an instant! And a certain Master of Sinanju gets to play astronaut...
Even stranger, Cosmo Pagan (the Carl Segan character) dies in this book - published just months before his actual dealh. Eerie!
A comment: Why was the
illustrious Chiun not portrayed on the covers of #104 or #105?
Could this explain the blood red ink on the cover? Is it really
ink? It sure is red.
